Our Story:

I began painting at the age of 17. I painted interior/exterior primarily residential projects. I was a beginner and learned what worked and what did not work so well, mostly by trial and error. I have been painting now for 42 years and over time have developed a paint system that I believe renders the best outcomes in painting services. Do not get me wrong. I still learn new things as every paint project is different. The one thing that eluded me was developing a solution on how to paint gutters, soffit and facia without having to mask to protect the roofing. Masking roofing as you know is time consuming and expensive to purchase the various masking materials. I have spent hours masking roofing. As you know you may have to mask again and again in cases of wind or other elements. Masking was a never ending nightmare especially on the roof. The alternative was to use the brush and roll method which was time consuming and in my opinion less esthetically pleasing than the brushed finish. Shielding options have always been limited to three or four foot shields proving to be inadequate and required spraying a foot and a half to two feet at a time.

Then one day I was working with one of my friends/employee on a particular project. I had a thought and decided to try it while working on the project. We taped three sections of cardboard together making a nine foot section. My friend held the section of cardboard above the gutter while I sprayed the gutter, soffit and facia. He moved further along as I completed the area the shield protected. This system worked great with two people. I immediately designed a prototype made of Lexan glass with an aluminum frame much like a window. It was fairly lightweight. I installed a handle mount and experimented with the shield. I knew that the prototype was still not the finished product so I met with a friend of mine who was skilled at engineering and building telescopes. I showed him the project and asked how he would do it if it was his. He asked me if I had thought of building it from aluminum. I asked him if it would be strong enough? He showed me how strategically placing bends in the product strengthened the aluminum improving it’s rigidity. We contacted several companies until we found a company who could manufacture the product. I had one of the shields made prior to ordering more than one. With a few design adjustments we now produce the shields as they are now. I went from having the idea to having a prototype made, patent pending, and the shield being manufactured and in my garage in a three week time period. This was an amazing experience and has transformed my painting systems and protocols. My goal now is to promote and sell my product making project completion more timely, cost effective, and efficient for others in the painting industry.
